Applications now open for the Peter Whittingham Jazz Award
Jazz musicians or bands at a tipping point in their career can apply now for financial support
Applications for the 2024 Peter Whittingham Jazz Award are now open.
The award offers financial support and business advice to a musician or band with the ambition to build and develop their career within the jazz scene.
One musician or band could receive up to £5,000 in financial support towards a range of musical activities, which could include recording new music, filming, touring or mentoring. You will also have six hours of one-to-one business advice from experienced music industry professionals, tailored to your needs.
An additional £5,000 may be distributed as Development Awards for musicians who show the potential to make an impact in the jazz scene. These awardees will receive three hours of business advice each.
Shortlisted applicants will be invited to attend an Artist Development Day. The day will feature an opportunity to perform in front of a panel of jazz specialists, as well as the chance to meet with an industry expert for one-to-one business development advice. A member of our Engagement Team will be in attendance on the day to discuss other support offered by Help Musicians.
Over the last 33 years, we have supported a range of influential jazz artists including Fergus McCreadie, Soweto Kinch, Errollyn Wallen, Xhosa Cole, and Helena Kay.
